We have seen failures on SeaStar Seals in as little as 3-5 years and we think products at a minimum should last 10 Years for this reason we produced this kit using all Viton seals on the Rod Assembly.
Viton is a super material formulated by Dupont and it's used in everything from Fuel Systems to Chemical Manufacturing it has a working life of about 30 years this will outlast most all applications.
The Newer SeaStar systems seem to be failing and leaking at a very rapid rate and even on our personal boats its a big problem. Bleeding the system takes quite a bit of time and frankly a boat's steering is a critical function and this is why we only use the the best materials sloppy steering will be a thing of the past.
All End Caps/Glands Are Made From High Quality Aircraft Grade Aluminum Produced On Precision Computerized CNC Machines All Aluminum Parts Are Hard Anodized Using A Military Grade Type 3 Hard Coat (The Same Coating Used On Military Style Weapons) & Fitted With Viton & Or High Grade Urethane Seals Depending On The Applications Pressure / Sealing Requirements.

There is no bearing in cap; its only aluminium which take contact to steering ram.
